Ukraine coal production drops
Ukrainian coal mining enterprises in January-November 2015 reduced coal production by 40.9% compared to the same period in 2014, to 36.351 million tonnes.
A source in the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry told Interfax-Ukraine that coking coal production for the 11 months fell by 52.4%, to 7.397 million tonnes, and steam coal extraction fell by 37.1%, to 28.955 million tonnes.
Coal mining enterprises managed by the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry in January-November 2015 reduced production by 64%, to 6.153 million tonnes, in particular coking coal production – by 59.9%, to 1.804 million tonnes, steam coal extraction – by 65.5%, to 4.349 million tonnes.
Mines in Donetsk region during the first 11 months of 2015 produced 13.048 million tonnes of coal (47.7% down compared to January-November 2014), Luhansk region 3.962 million tonnes (77.2% down), Dnipropetrovsk region 17.309 million tonnes (0.4% up), Lviv region 1.806 million tonnes (9.2% up), in Volyn region 226,500 tonnes (15.7% down). interfax ukraine
