Russia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan determine mining zones in the Caspian sea

The delimination of mining zones in the Northern Caspian Sea between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia has been implemented.

Oxu.Az reports citing Russia’s Foreign Ministry that it was stated in an interview of the the head of of the Russian delegation on the multilateral talks on the Caspian Sea, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Igor Bratchikov with the Caspian Energy magazine.

On the issue of the division of the Caspian seabed, Bratchikov recalled the Astrakhan statement of the heads of the Caspian states, which bears the signature of the President of the Russian Federation, and which states that “the delineation of the Caspian seabed and subsoil should be carried out by agreement of the parties on the basis of universally recognized principles and norms of international law.”

“In fact, half the work is already done: a delimination of the mining zones in the Northern Caspian Sea between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia, as well as the determination of the boundary between the Kazakh and Turkmen bottom sectors have been carried out,” special envoy of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
