Pavlovskoye Lead-Zinc Project is one of the biggest mines in Russia
Mining Technology report Pavlovskoye lead-zinc project is classified as one of the biggest mines in Russia. Located in the Arkhangelsk region, the project is expected to contain reserves sufficient for up to 35 years of production. ARMZ Uranium Holding subsidiary First Ore Mining Company is developing the project, which is estimated to have an output capacity of up to 3.5 million tonne of ore a year. The project was included in the ‘Social and Economic Development of the Arctic Area of the Russian Federation’ program. ROSATOM and the Arkhangelsk government signed an agreement to co-operate for the implementation of the Pavlovskoye project as part of an overall development of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation, in March 2017.
The Pavlovskoye lead and zinc deposit was granted priority investment project status by the Governor of Arkhangelsk Region in March 2018. Construction of the combined mining and processing unit is proposed to start in 2018, and with first commercial production expected to start in 2020.
