Kazakhstan advances tungsten extraction project at Bugutinskoe deposit

Kanat Sharlapaev, Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, recently convened with representatives from Jiaxing International Resources Investment LTD to discuss the advancement of the tungsten extraction project at the Bugutinskoe deposit in the Almaty region.

LLP “Zhetysu Tungsten” is spearheading the establishment of a mining enterprise dedicated to extracting tungsten from the Bugutinskoe deposit under a mineral extraction contract (No. 4608-TPI dated June 2, 2015, valid for 25 years).

Construction and mining activities are currently in full swing, with commissioning slated for the end of 2024. The development of the mine and processing plant is projected to generate 1,000 employment opportunities.

The project entails the extraction and processing of 3.3 million tons of tungsten ores to yield a 65% tungsten concentrate. Presently, a feasibility study is underway for the construction of a deep-processing complex aimed at refining the 65% tungsten concentrate into 88.5% ammonium paratungstate and high-purity tungsten carbide.

The meeting concluded with both parties expressing mutual appreciation and underscoring the significance of fostering bilateral relations.
