Karelian Dimond Resources excited by diamond find in Finland
The Geological Survey of Finland has, on behalf of Finnish diamond exploration company Karelian Diamond Resources, discovered a rare diamond in the Kuhmo region of eastern Finland.
Karelian noted that the discovery was rare and significant, given that it was allied with the discovery of high concentrations of kimberlitic indicator minerals in the area, strongly suggesting that a diamondiferous kimberlite is present.
“This is very exciting news to find such a diamond in till which is a very rare event and makes me very excited about the potential of the area and the discovery of the source of this diamond,” commented Karelian chairperson Richard Conroy.
