China Nonferrous Gold Says Production Restored at Tajikistan Gold Project

China Nonferrous Gold said late Thursday that production at the Pakrut gold project in the Republic of Tajikistan had resumed, but that production at the smelting plant won’t resume until the end of March.

The London-listed Tajikistan-focused gold mining company said the smelting plant had to collect sufficient gold concentrate to guarantee continuous adequate supply, but that it will be able to recover annual gold production to levels similar to last year despite the interruption.

Production was halted at the site in February after an electric power transmission tower was damaged by avalanches. The company said Thursday that the tower has now been repaired with power supply restored at the mine. “The company has started to resume the production of the processing plant and underground mining, primarily with the normal power supply,” it said.
