Amec Foster Wheeler to expand Anagold Madencilik’s Çöpler gold mine in Turkey

The objective of the project is also to extend the life of the mine to more than 20 years, with a continual gold production of four million ounces.

Amec Foster Wheeler has secured a contract to expand and extend the life of Anagold Madencilik’s Çöpler gold mine in the Çöpler district, Erzincan province, Turkey.

Under the engineering, procurement and construction management contract, Amec Foster will provide services including detailed engineering, procurement, and construction management services as part of the Çöpler Sulfide expansion project.

The company will also provide support during commissioning and performance testing at the mine.

The Çöpler Sulfide expansion project, which is aimed at enabling the facility to process 5,000t per day of sulfide ore, is due for mechanical completion in the second quarter of 2018.

It is expected to commence production in the third quarter of 2018.

In May last year, Amec Foster first secured the EPC contract for the expansion of the Çopler gold mine.

The company was responsible for engineering and procurement activities as well as the preparation of an open book estimate which served as the basis for the subsequent project phases.
