Atalaya Mining said a Spanish tribunal had ruled in favor of an environmental group against the government of Andalucia, and the company as a co-defendant in the case.
Atalaya said it would nevertheless continue running its Proyecto Riotinto mine normally and was confident the ruling would not effect its operations.

‘Although the claim was against the government, Atalaya, being an interested party in the process, voluntarily joined as co-defendant and believes it could be successfully appealed to the Supreme Court in Spain,’ the company said.
The claim was brought by environmental group Ecologistas en Accion and related to the granting of mining permits.
