Türkiye and Niger sign MoU to boost mining cooperation

Türkiye and Niger are set to enhance their collaboration in mineral exploration and mining following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) by Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar and Niger’s Minister of Mines Abarchi Ousmane in Istanbul.

The agreement aims to facilitate the exchange of information, official meetings, and consultations between relevant ministries and institutions, fostering cooperation on projects of mutual interest. Additionally, it seeks to support sustainable development in both countries through their mining sectors.

Bayraktar emphasized Türkiye’s commitment to encouraging both public and private sector investments in Niger’s mining industry, with a focus on facilitating mineral exploration and exploitation. He expressed optimism about the future of the partnership, stating that the agreement will elevate ongoing cooperation to new levels.

This MoU follows Bayraktar’s previous visit to Niamey in July, where he discussed broader cooperation in the energy sector, including oil and natural gas.
