Pan American Silver is reinforcing its long-term gold mining strategy in the Timmins district by investing in deeper underground infrastructure rather than relying solely on near-surface exploration. The company’s proposed Bell Creek Shaft Extension Project is designed to unlock deeper mineralisation and support future production from one of Canada’s established gold mining operations.
The project will deepen the existing Bell Creek shaft by 625 metres, increasing its depth from 1,080 metres below surface to 1,705 metres. This expansion will provide access to deeper gold mineralisation identified through recent drilling campaigns, creating opportunities to develop additional underground resources. According to the current schedule, on-site construction is expected to begin in July 2026, while commissioning of the expanded shaft is targeted for the first half of 2029.
