GreenRoc Extends Amitsoq Graphite Mineralisation as Greenland Project Advances Toward EU-Supported Development

GreenRoc Mining has expanded the known graphite mineralisation at its Amitsoq project in Greenland, with new drilling extending the lower graphite layer and supporting further resource growth as the project moves toward its next phase of technical development. The company said Phase III drilling extended the lower graphite layer by approximately 100 to 150 metres north of the area covered by previous resource drilling.

The latest programme returned new intersections with true thicknesses of 21.4 metres and 13.1 metres, providing additional geological information for the deposit ahead of further resource work. The drilling results are expected to contribute to a planned pre-feasibility study, which GreenRoc intends to begin by the end of 2026. Amitsoq has gained increasing relevance within European raw-materials policy because graphite is an important battery material and Europe remains heavily dependent on imports and Chinese processing.

The project’s policy significance increased after the European Commission said the EU was supporting preparations for Amitsoq through the new €200 million EU-Greenland Global Gateway package. The support, however, is part of a wider investment framework and does not represent construction financing for the graphite project.

The €200 million EU-Greenland package covers multiple sectors and infrastructure priorities across Greenland. No specific amount has been disclosed for Amitsoq, and no EU or EIB construction loan has been announced for the project. The current support therefore provides a broader development framework for Amitsoq, while GreenRoc still needs to advance project financing, permitting, engineering and future offtake agreements. Further resource definition and the planned pre-feasibility study are expected to provide additional technical information as the project progresses. The development of a clearer financing structure will also remain part of the next stage for Amitsoq, alongside the company’s continued work to define the graphite resource.
