FireFox Gold is expanding its exploration programme in Finnish Lapland after completing 56 drill holes covering 13,945 metres at the Mustajärvi gold project and launching follow-up drilling at the separate Sarvi project. The expanded campaign gives FireFox a significantly larger geological database as it works toward a potential maiden mineral-resource estimate at Mustajärvi.
Mustajärvi Drilling Exceeds Original Target
Drilling at Mustajärvi began in August 2025 with an initial target of approximately 10,000 metres. The completed 13,945 metres represents an increase of almost 40% over the original plan. The larger programme is intended to improve the understanding of the mineralised system and provide additional information for future resource modelling. Assay results are still pending for 25 drill holes, meaning the latest announcement primarily demonstrates exploration progress rather than confirming a new discovery.
FireFox is continuing core logging and sampling during a planned break in drilling, with field activity expected to resume in August. The company plans to operate two drill rigs in parallel once work restarts at Mustajärvi, potentially increasing the pace of exploration and future assay releases.
Sarvi Adds a Second Gold Exploration Target
At the same time, FireFox has mobilised a second drilling contractor to the Sarvi project, located approximately 20 kilometres east of Mustajärvi and about 5 kilometres north of Agnico Eagle’s Ikkari deposit. The new campaign will investigate extensions around drill hole 25SA003, which previously returned 1.75 metres grading 27.48 grams of gold per tonne.
Recent magnetic, electromagnetic and gravity surveys have also outlined a northwest-southeast structural corridor extending several hundred metres across the project. Strong electromagnetic conductors have been identified below the depth reached by earlier drilling. These could potentially reflect sulphide-rich mineralisation, although geophysical conductivity alone cannot confirm the presence, grade or economic significance of gold.
FireFox Moves From Resource Definition to New Discovery
The two-project strategy gives FireFox a broader exploration profile. At Mustajärvi, the company is increasingly focused on resource definition. The key questions are now the continuity, geometry and geological confidence of the mineralisation rather than individual high-grade intersections.
Sarvi, by contrast, remains at an earlier discovery stage. A successful drilling campaign could establish a second significant value driver for FireFox, but the geological uncertainty is correspondingly higher. The pending assays from Mustajärvi will be particularly important because they will help determine whether the extensive drilling campaign can translate into a coherent mineral resource.
Ultimately, the economic potential of both projects will depend on more than headline grades. FireFox will need to demonstrate sufficient continuous gold-bearing tonnes, establish the geometry of the mineralised zones and generate the metallurgical information required for future development studies. The company’s expanded drilling activity therefore increases its exposure to potential discoveries, but the next major value catalyst will come from the laboratory results and the geological model they support.
