Denison Mines Advances Phoenix Uranium Project Toward Major Development Milestone

Denison Mines Corp. continues to reinforce its position as one of the most closely watched uranium developers in North America after achieving a major regulatory milestone for its flagship Phoenix uranium project in Saskatchewan, Canada. The achievement marks a critical step forward in the company’s strategy to become a significant long-term uranium producer as global demand for nuclear fuel continues to rise.

The company recently confirmed that the Phoenix In-Situ Recovery (ISR) uranium mine has become the first large-scale Canadian uranium mining project to secure all necessary regulatory approvals required to begin construction. The milestone represents years of planning, permitting, and technical development and positions Denison among the leading uranium companies preparing for the next phase of growth in the global nuclear energy sector.

Phoenix Project Moves Toward Construction

Following the completion of the permitting process, Denison has already made a final investment decision for the Phoenix project and has initiated schedule-critical site preparation and early construction activities.

The company remains focused on maintaining project timelines, with management targeting first uranium production in mid-2028. Once operational, Phoenix is expected to become one of the most significant new uranium mines in Canada and a major contributor to future uranium supply.

The project utilizes In-Situ Recovery (ISR) mining technology, a method designed to extract uranium with a reduced surface footprint compared to conventional mining approaches. This technology has gained increasing attention as mining companies seek more efficient and environmentally responsible production methods.

Strong Position in the Growing Uranium Market

The advancement of Phoenix comes at a time when the global uranium market is benefiting from renewed interest in nuclear power. Governments worldwide are increasingly viewing nuclear energy as a critical component of energy security, decarbonization strategies, and reliable baseload electricity generation.

Denison’s portfolio provides exposure to multiple sources of future uranium production and sales. In addition to its development-stage assets, the company benefits from uranium holdings, participation in active production at the McClean Lake operation, and future development opportunities associated with both the Phoenix and Gryphon uranium deposits. This diversified approach allows Denison to maintain flexibility while positioning itself to capitalize on strengthening uranium market fundamentals.

Uranium Sales Commitments Support Revenue Visibility

During the first quarter, Denison further strengthened its commercial outlook by securing a near-term uranium sales agreement. Under the contract, the company will deliver approximately 550,000 pounds of U3O8 uranium concentrate between the second quarter of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027. The agreement carries an average selling price of US$99.07 per pound, highlighting the strong pricing environment currently supporting the uranium sector.

The sale demonstrates management’s confidence in market conditions and provides additional revenue visibility as the company advances its larger development projects.

Athabasca Basin Remains a Global Uranium Powerhouse

Denison Mines is primarily focused on the Athabasca Basin in northern Saskatchewan, one of the world’s most prolific uranium-producing regions. The basin hosts some of the highest-grade uranium deposits globally and remains a strategic source of supply for the international nuclear fuel market.

The company’s activities encompass uranium exploration, project development, mining-related environmental services, and resource expansion initiatives throughout the region. Its extensive land position and development pipeline provide significant leverage to long-term uranium demand growth.

As governments increasingly prioritize energy independence and low-carbon power generation, assets located within established mining jurisdictions such as Saskatchewan are attracting growing investor attention.

Rising Demand for Nuclear Energy Supports Sector Growth

The long-term outlook for uranium continues to improve as countries seek reliable energy solutions capable of supporting expanding electricity demand. Nuclear power is gaining renewed recognition as a low-emission energy source that can complement renewable technologies while providing consistent baseload generation.

This trend has contributed to stronger uranium prices and increased investment across the sector. New reactor construction, reactor life extensions, and emerging advanced nuclear technologies are expected to support additional uranium demand over the coming decades. Against this backdrop, Denison’s combination of approved development projects, strategic uranium inventories, and exposure to high-quality Canadian assets positions the company to benefit from the evolving energy landscape.

A Defining Phase for Denison Mines

With full regulatory approval secured for the Phoenix project, construction activities underway, and uranium sales commitments in place, Denison Mines has entered a pivotal stage of its corporate development.

The company’s progress reflects broader momentum within the uranium industry as investors and governments focus on securing future nuclear fuel supplies. If project development proceeds according to schedule, Phoenix could emerge as one of Canada’s most important new uranium operations and strengthen Denison’s role in the global uranium market for years to come.
