The European Union’s Critical Raw Materials Act has established ambitious targets for increasing local supply chains, including greater domestic production and reduced reliance on single-country suppliers.
Nevada Tungsten Project Highlights U.S. Supply Strategy
In the United States, Guardian Metal Resources strengthened the investment case for its Pilot Mountain tungsten project in Nevada after publishing a positive pre-feasibility study.
The study outlined strong economic potential, including:
- an after-tax NPV8 of US$660.3 million;
- an internal rate of return of 59.6%;
- initial capital requirements of US$288.7 million;
- planned production of 15,916 tonnes of recovered tungsten trioxide (WO₃) over an initial eight-year mine life.

The move represents an important step toward a planned production restart in late 2027, subject to financing. Northern Graphite is positioning Okanjande as part of a broader integrated graphite strategy that extends beyond traditional industrial markets and into the battery sector.
The company aims to supply graphite for applications including:
