Cora Gold Launches Major 12,000-Metre Drilling Campaign to Unlock Growth at Mali’s Sanankoro Gold Project

West African gold developer Cora Gold has unveiled an ambitious drilling campaign exceeding 12,000 metres at its flagship Sanankoro Gold Project in southern Mali, as the company seeks to significantly expand its resource base and unlock new growth opportunities beyond its current mine plan.

The extensive reverse circulation (RC) and diamond drilling program will focus on both expanding existing deposits and testing high-priority exploration targets across the broader project area. The initiative represents a key step in Cora Gold’s strategy to transform Sanankoro into a larger, long-life gold mining operation capable of delivering value well beyond its currently projected ten-year production schedule.

The campaign follows a successful financing package completed earlier this year, which fully funded Sanankoro through construction and into production, allowing the company to accelerate its exploration and development ambitions.

Focused Drilling Strategy Targets Resource Growth

The upcoming drill program will concentrate primarily on the project’s most promising mineralized zones, including Zone B, Zone C, and Selin, while also evaluating underexplored strike extensions and nearby greenfield prospects.

The distribution of drilling activity reflects the company’s confidence in the resource growth potential of specific areas:

  • Zone B: 40% of total drilling allocation
  • Selin: 30%
  • Zone A and Zone C: 25% combined
  • Greenfield exploration targets: 5%

Results from the campaign will be incorporated into an updated Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) once assay results become available.

The goal is not only to increase the size of the current resource inventory but also to improve geological confidence and identify new zones that could support future mine expansion.

Zone B Emerges as Primary Exploration Priority

Among all target areas, Zone B will receive the largest share of drilling activity.

Management believes the area offers substantial upside due to the presence of active artisanal mining operations, strong mineralization, and relatively limited deep drilling completed to date.

The planned drilling campaign is designed to test extensions of known mineralized zones at depth and improve continuity within the current resource model. By targeting deeper sections of the deposit, Cora aims to reduce geological uncertainty and strengthen confidence in resource estimates while potentially uncovering additional high-grade gold mineralization. Improving resource continuity at Zone B could also have a direct impact on future mine planning and long-term production potential.

Selin Deposit Offers Significant Expansion Potential

The Selin deposit represents another major focus area within the drilling campaign. Historical drilling at Selin has been relatively shallow and widely spaced, limiting the company’s understanding of the deposit’s full scale and continuity. The new drilling program will concentrate on the southern portion of the deposit, where management believes additional exploration could substantially expand known mineralization.

By increasing drill density and extending exploration to greater depths, Cora hopes to develop a clearer understanding of the deposit’s overall size and economic potential. The results could ultimately support future resource upgrades and contribute additional feed for the planned mining operation.

Infill Drilling to Strengthen Confidence at Zone C

At Zone C, the focus will shift toward improving resource confidence through a systematic infill drilling program. Drilling on approximately 50-metre spacing is planned to better define geological structures and strengthen the continuity of known mineralized zones.

This work is expected to support future resource classification upgrades while enhancing confidence in long-term mine planning. As projects move closer to development, increasing geological certainty becomes increasingly important for operational planning, financing, and reserve conversion.

Greenfield Targets Could Deliver New Discoveries

In addition to expanding existing deposits, Cora Gold will allocate part of the program to testing several high-priority greenfield targets located near current and planned infrastructure. These targets remain largely undrilled despite exhibiting promising geological characteristics.

The proximity of these exploration targets to planned mining facilities creates an attractive opportunity. Any successful discoveries could potentially be incorporated into future mine plans relatively quickly, reducing development costs and accelerating resource growth. Management believes the broader Sanankoro permit package remains significantly underexplored and holds considerable potential for additional discoveries.

Five Major Gold Structures Remain Largely Untested

The Sanankoro project covers a highly prospective land package containing five major gold-bearing structures along with numerous emerging exploration targets. Many of these structures have seen only limited exploration, leaving substantial upside potential across the project area.

As exploration advances, Cora Gold aims to systematically evaluate these targets and build a larger regional resource inventory that could support future production growth. The company’s long-term vision extends beyond the currently defined deposits, focusing on establishing Sanankoro as a major gold-producing district within West Africa.

Strong Economics Support Long-Term Expansion

Cora Gold’s confidence in the exploration program is supported by the results of its recently completed Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS).

According to CEO Bert Monro, the study demonstrated that Sanankoro is a robust, high-margin gold project with attractive economics and a projected mine life of ten years. Management believes the current mine plan represents only a fraction of the project’s ultimate potential.

The new drilling campaign has therefore been designed specifically to identify opportunities beyond the initial production schedule and establish the foundation for long-term expansion.

Positioning Sanankoro for Decades of Growth

As construction and development activities move forward, resource growth has become one of Cora Gold’s highest strategic priorities. By combining resource expansion drilling, infill programs, and greenfield exploration, the company aims to significantly increase the scale of the Sanankoro project while extending its operational life well beyond the currently envisioned decade.

Success in the upcoming drilling campaign could enhance project economics, increase future production capacity, and strengthen Sanankoro’s position as one of the most promising emerging gold projects in West Africa.

With funding secured and exploration momentum building, Cora Gold is entering a pivotal phase that could reshape the long-term outlook of the project and create substantial value for shareholders. The updated Mineral Resource Estimate, expected following completion of drilling and assay analysis, will provide investors with a clearer picture of how much additional growth potential may exist within the rapidly advancing Sanankoro Gold Project.
