Battery Giant ATL Secures Stake in Brazil’s Strategic Niobium and Rare Earth Project Amid Global Critical Minerals Race

The global competition for critical minerals continues to intensify as Hong Kong-based battery manufacturer Amperex Technology Limited (ATL) moves to gain exposure to one of Brazil’s most promising niobium and rare earth projects.

ATL is set to acquire a minority interest in Australian-listed St George Mining, the owner of the Araxá Project in Brazil’s mineral-rich state of Minas Gerais. The transaction underscores the growing international interest in Brazil’s strategic mineral sector as countries and corporations race to secure supplies of materials essential for advanced technologies, clean energy systems, and next-generation manufacturing.

In exchange, ATL will receive a minority equity stake in St George Mining, providing the battery manufacturer with direct exposure to the company’s broader portfolio of critical minerals assets, including the highly prospective Araxá niobium and rare earth project.
